Today we had a demo on the alkali metals. We learned that when they are added to water they react and create a base and hydrogen gas. We were able to neutralize the base with an acid.

Lab- a fun indicator lab to see the colours that different indicators produce. Hmk. Read pages 272-275 and answer questions #1-6, 8 &10 Today we learned how to write formulas and name acids and bases. We completed the worksheet together and practiced on the last page.
*** Good luck on your OSSLT test tomorrow! *** Lab is due Friday! Today we reviewed how to write word equations and balanced chemical equations.... and we had time to work on lab questions in class. Lab is due on Friday!
We will work on lab questions next Tuesday and the lab questions will be due next Friday.
You don't have to write a formal lab report this time! Quiz- Balancing Equations Types of Chemical Reactions worksheet Prep for lab tomorrow... you need to have your data table ready to go for tomorrow. Today we took up some of the balancing equations homework on the board.
We learned about the 4 types of chemical reactions. We will see all of these in our lab on Friday!
