Today we put the finishing touches on our Mitosis models and handed them in... they look great! Your homework is to complete the handout on the Importance of Cell Division, refer to your textbook- pages 36 &37 to help you. This is due on Monday.
Today we watched a video on bacteria. There was a handout with questions and a crossword to complete.
Today we had a short quiz- matching the cell organelles to their function. We watched a short video on Mitosis and the rest of the class was to work on your mitosis models.
Today we learned about the cell cycle: Interphase, mitosis and cytokinesis. We drew diagrams of the 4 stages of mitosis (PMAT) and cytokinesis. We then started making models of the 4 stages of mitosis.
Today we took a note on cell theory. We labelled diagrams of plant and animals cells and completed an organizer on the functions of the cell organelles. Homework is to read pages 29-32 and answer questions #1-8 on page 32. There will be a short quiz on Wednesday on the parts of the cell and their functions.
Today we are going to further explore the microscope using a dry mount of the letter 'e' and a wet mount of a strand of your own hair!
Today we labelled a diagram of the microscope and discussed the proper handing and care when using it. We also learned about scientific drawings. There was a little time left to look at some prepared slides under the microscope.
Today was our last day for Optics presentations. We discussed the "What do you think?" on page 27 of text.
