Per. 3- Refraction lab... to develop a law of refraction by examining how light bends from air to plexi-glass *** Each student is to hand in their ray diagrams, questions #1-4 and a conclusion Due on Wednesday! Optics Projects were handed out and topics were chosen. You may work alone or with a partner.
Refraction: Penny Demo Note on how light bends when it moves through different media Hmk: Read pages 515-519 and answer questions #1-7 on page 519 Today we used the imaging rules we learned yesterday to find and locate images in a concave mirror, using a ruler.
We described these images using SALT. (diagrams on a handout) Hmk: Read pages 496-501 and answer questions #1-10 on page 501 Optics Quiz
Today we "discovered" the 4 imaging rules for a concave mirror by using they ray boxes Today we used rulers and protractors to find images in a plane mirror using object-image lines
We then described the images using SALT Hmk: Read pages 499-492 and answer questions #1-7 on page 493 Optics Quiz tomorrow! Review properties of light, electromagnetic spectrum, sources of light, ray diagrams, law of reflection and finding and describing images in a plane mirror Handout- how to describe images in a plane mirror using SALT
Activity: pages 494-495 Using the rayboxes and reflected rays, we were able to find the image As a group, you need to hand in diagram, data table and questions a)-j) A note on how light behaves when it hits different objects and how to draw light rays on a diagram.
Activity: pages 482-483 in groups... this will help us to develop a law of reflection. Answer a)-f) as a group. Hmk: Read pages 479-481 and answer questions #1-6 on pg. 481 Today we talked about the Electromagnetic Spectrum and how light is a part of this spectrum.
Activity: We used the ray boxes and prisms and we split white light into the rainbow of colours. (p.467) Hmk: Read pages 463-469 and answer questions #1-9 on pg. 465 Slideshow and discussion on the different sources of light
HmK: Read pages 470-476 and answer questions #1-5,7,9,10 on page 476 |
