Today we worked on the questions from our lab. You will need to submit your data table
Today we did a chemistry lab with 7 different chemical reactions. You will need to hand in your data table and the 4 questions that were given with the lab.
We will be working on it tomorrow in class and it will be due on Monday. Today we took up yesterday's homework and I gave back your first lab report. We discussed ways to improve for the next lab.
Homework- ensure that your data table is prepared for our lab tomorrow. Balancing Equations Quiz
Today we learned about the 4 different types of chemical reactions and completed a worksheet. Homework: Read pages 237-239 and answer ques.#1-3 on page 239 and read pages 240-243 and answer ques. #3, 4 &5 on page 243. Today we took up the balancing equations worksheets. Keep practicing!!
Homework- Read pages 233-236 and answer questions #1-4 & 7 on page 236. Question #7 on page 258. Balancing Equations quiz tomorrow!! Don't forget to sign up for extra help at lunch as soon as you need it! Today we took a note on how to properly balance chemical equations. We practised balancing equations and creating skeletons equations and then balancing them. The worksheet is to be completed for Monday.
Our lab yesterday demonstrated this concept, so today we discussed and took a note on Law of Conservation of Mass. We also reviewed how to count atoms in compounds, which we will need for tomorrow's lesson on balancing equations.
Homework- Read pages 230-232 and answer questions #1a, 2, 4 &6 Is Mass Gained or Lost During a Chemical Reaction? This was our investigation on pages 228-229 of the text. You will need to write a formal lab which is due on Thursday, Septmeber 20th. Answer questions a, e and h as part of your Discussion section. If you missed the lab you will need to make arrangements to do the lab at lunch.
Today we demonstrated the Scientific method using playing cards and fortune fish. Each student recieved a handout to follow when completing lab assignments. In groups, the TOP 10 Safety rules in the lab were recorded. Tomorrow is our first chemistry lab!
Today we had a quiz on all 3 types of compounds. If you were absent, be prepared to write your quiz on Monday.
The focus of today's lesson was chemical reactions and word equations. Please read pages 225-227 and answer questions #1-5 & 7 for homework. |
