When this was complete, there was time to prepare for tomorrow's Optics Presentations. Remember: I am only marking your ORAL presentation and it should be around 3-5 minutes in length.
Today we took up the diagram of the human eye and watched a short video clip on this. Seatwork- Read pages 572-576 and answer questions #2&3 on page 577.
When this was complete, there was time to prepare for tomorrow's Optics Presentations. Remember: I am only marking your ORAL presentation and it should be around 3-5 minutes in length. Today we watched Bill Nye Foresics Video and started working on review for our Optics Unit Test which is next Tuesday, November 20th! Start studying now and sign up for extra help if needed.
Today we used the imaging rules to locate images in Convex Lenses. We also described these images using the SALT characteristics. We demonstrated how these lenses produce real images by tt
Today we used the ray boxes to investigate what happens to light rays when they strike a lens. We discovered that convex lenses are converging lenses and concave lenses are diverging lenses.
Homework- Read pages 551-553 and answer questions #1-6 on page 553. Your project for the physics unit was given today. You will present your findings in a 5 minute presentation next Friday, November 16th.
Today we read some articles in the Science World magazine and completed some multiple choice questions on Science News and completed a Diagram of the Human Eye.
Today we investigated Total Internal Reflection. There was a fibre optics demo and short video.
Homework- Explain how Diamonds, Fibre Optics and Trianglar Prisms use total internal reflection. Read pages 526-531 and ansswer questions #1-9 on page 531. Today we learned about the index of refraction and the formula to use when calculating this value or the speed of light in another medium.
Homework- P.525 # Today we did a refraction lab to investigate how light behaves when it moves from air to plexi-glass. The lab questions were to be submitted by the end of the period.
Spoon and penny demo to introduce refraction. Note on Refraction.
Homework- Read pages 515-519, answer questions #1-7 on page 519 |
